All masonry is worked in house using hand tools, pneumatic chisels, and grinders, as befits the job.
Much of my work is on church windows. Stone mullions, jambs and tracery can often be repaired (see conservation and repair), but sometimes the deterioration of stone is too advanced, so a replacement is required.
Hoodmoulds protrude beyond the wall line, and so provide shelter to the window below. They are a ‘sacrificial weathering’, and often require restoration.
